Soundtrack History

The soundtrack for Ponyo on the Cliff by the Sea was released on July 16th, 2008. The album has 36 tracks. The theme song was performed by Fujioka Fujimaki (famous duo Takaaki Fujioka and Naoya Fujimaki) and Nozomi Ohashi, who was only eight years old at the time of the film's production. The English translation of the theme was recorded by Frankie Jonas and Noah Cyrus, who also voiced Sōsuke and Ponyo in the North American dub, in honor of the film's English release. The film's score was composed by Joe Hisaishi. The score album was published don compact disc in Japan by Tokuma Japan Communications, in South Korea by Pony Canyon, and throughout Europe by the Germany-based label Colosseum.
