What is in the World?

This page is about some different areas of Dark Souls 3. I will be talking about what I remember about these areas. This will not be an in-depth explanation of these areas. I will try to get some good images of these areas, if that interests anyone.

High Wall of Lothric

High Wall of Lothric

I remember the first time I got to the High Wall of Lothric. I was teleported into a small room that had only one way out. I pushed open the double doors, which reviled what looks like two large castles in the distance. I was stunned when I first saw this view because I wasn't expecting it. I thought that I would get attacked as soon as I left the room, not an amazing view. After leaving the room, I walked down three flights of stairs. From there, I saw two different sets of stairs. One going to the right, and one going to the left. The right stairs lead down to a section of this area with some hostile and non-hostile NPCs. NPC stands for non-player character. The most dangerous enemies in this section are the dogs. Like many dogs in this game, they can be annoying fight against. They are fast, hard to hit, and if there are enough of them, they can kill someone fast. Past the dogs is a section with an enemy holding a crossbow and a few other non-hostile NPCs. Naturally, I killed the with the crossbow, but as soon as I did, one of the NPCs that I thought was non-hostile transformed into something that I do not know how to describe. This new thing attacked me, but fortunately for me, I had faced a boss that was similar to this before, so it wasn't too difficult to defeat him, but it still scared me when he first transformed.

the stairs to the left lead down to a section that not too bad. There is an enemy that can call other enemies to them, and causes some non-hostile NPCs nearby to attack the player, but he is the only dangerous enemy, and he can be killed easily. A little farther past this section, is a section where a dragon can appear. Ok, he is technically a wyvern, but he is practically a dragon. Anyway, the section where he appears is split into two parts. the first part in just a straight line with some enemies and stairs at the end. the other part is stairs that go up to where the wyvern appears. The wyvern will only appear if a player goes up the stairs, so he can be avoided completely. However, I triggered him om my first time through this area, but I was able to just run past him, so he wasn't a big obstacle. This is actually possible with most enemies in Dark Souls 3. I will usually go through an area fighting everything once, then just run past them so I can get to the boss arena. But, with all that said, enemies will chase their enemies, so it can be dangerous to run through an area without any knowledge of the area. Anyway, once I ran past the wyvern, I found my first difficult enemy. Aside from the previous boss I faced. For a non-boss enemy, he was fairly difficult to fight. I think I died to him once or twice before I defeated him, which is fairly unusual for a normal enemy. I believe that this enemy is called a Lothric Knight. After this section there is an area with two enemies of note. The first one is another Lothric Knight but with a larger shield and a spear instead of a sword. For some reason, I had a harder time defeating him compared to his sword wielding friend. The second enemy is called a Winged Knight, I think. He is larger than the Lothric Knights, but also slower, which makes him easier to dodge. However, he does have stronger attacks, so getting hit by him will hurt more than the Lothric Knights. Personally, I think that the Lothric Knights are more difficult to fight, but that is just my opinion. The section after this one is the first one where is turned around and went back the way I came. This next section has a courtyard full of Lothric Knights. Suffice it to say, I died a few times. Anyway, at the end of the whole area is a boss, as you may have guessed. This boss is nothing special. In fact, he is one of the easiest bosses in the game. However, to be fair, he is only the second boss of the game, and I did struggle with him a little bit on my first fight with him. But, I struggled more with the first boss then I did this one. Oh, I almost forgot to mention his name, it's Vordt of the Boreal Valley. Speaking of the Boreal Valley.

Irithyll of the Boreal Valley

Irithyll is farther into the game compared to the High Wall of Lothric, which is closer to the beginning of the game. When I walked up the stairs from the Catacombs of Carthus, I saw the city of Irithyll for the first time, and I was impressed by the view. After admiring the view for a bit, I headed for the bridge. As I walked across the bridge, head a noise behind me. When I turned around, I saw a large, monstrous dog thing, that did so much damage to me that I though the game was glitching out, but nope, the dog just does a lot of damage. I don't know if it was teleported behind me or if he was always there, and he was just invisible. After beating this big dog on my second try, I entered the city with no hope of defeating anything if that was just the welcoming party. As continued into the city, I quickly ran into some Pontiff Knights. Pontiff Knights, like Lothric Knights, are one of the toughest enemies in their respective areas. Pontiff Knights have some decently fast attacks, and they often do quick consecutive attacks. I think they do a good amount of damage as well. Past the Pontiff Knights, are some enemies of no significance. The Fire Witches can be a bit annoying, but nothing too bad. There are some dogs farther into the area, and they are a pain to deal with as usual. After fighting through several dogs and Pontiff Knights, I finally got to the boss of the area. For context, by this point I think that I have fought about six bosses, and only three or four of them were difficult. At this point I am not sure what to expect from this boss. I was ready for this to be a fun but ultimately easy boss, I was wrong. I do not know what other people think about this boss, but I think that it is one of the hardest bosses in the game. I died so many times that I lost count, this was also a few years ago, but I am fairly sure that I died to him several times. And I forgot to mention his name. The boss's name is Pontiff Sulyvahn. The boss has one or two attacks that have multiple consecutive slashes that are difficult to avoid. The first time he attacked me with one of these attacks, I was not expecting an attack with so many consecutive hits. For his second phase, he summons a phantom version of him. This phantom essentially acts as a second boss for me to fight, as if one wasn't bad enough. One good thing about this fight is that the boss doesn't he all of his health back when he reaches his second phase. Anyway, this area is one of the difficult ones, and I had fun beating it, especially the boss.
