Country Basics
Italy is the country shaped like a boot and is famous for it's pasta dishes. The currency used in Italy is the Euro. Rome itself is mostly Lgbtq friendly and friendly in general.
Attractions
The attractions iconic to Rome are the Colloseum, the Trevi Fountain, the Spanish steps, the Pantheon, and Vatican City.
Dining
There isn't a specific restaurant I would recommend for a country known for it's food, but I personally use Yelp when I travel. There wasn't a place I ate at that wasn't really good.
My Experience
Italy was actually the first european country I ever took a solo trip to, except it was in Milan. Everyone I met in Milan kept telling me to visit Rome as soon as I mentioned I loved food. My visit in Rome was pretty great and luckily right before the pandemic. I ate the best pasta I have ever eaten and saw the iconic attractions Rome is known for. My favorite pastime while visiting was sitting around the Trevi Fountain at night, eating munchies and being entertained by the police constantly yelling at tourists sitting on the edge of the fountain...best experience ever.
