Transferring files

How to transfer files to CIS2 using the SSH Windows Client

  • Step 1: Open SSH Secure Shell Client
  • Step 2: Click on the "Quick Connect" button
  • Step 3: Type in "cis2.oc.ctc.edu" for the Host Name
  • Step 4: Enter your username:
    Note: Read the Student Accounts section for more information on usernames and passwords.
  • Step 5: Ensure that the port number is set to: 22
  • Step 6: Click connect
  • Step 7: After clicking connect you will be prompted to enter your password.

  • Step 8: Once connected click the file transfer button
  • Step 9: Now your should be at the main File Transfer window
  • Step 10: The left window "Local Name" contains all the files locally on your machine. The right window "Remote Name" is a list of all files in your home directory on the server. You can use the icon to browse through drives and folders locally on your machine.

  • Step 11: To upload from your machine to the server just select the file (s) or folder (s) from the "Local Name" window (left window) and drag it to the "Remote Name" window.
  • Step 12: Once the transfer has been completed. All the files you selected for the upload will be listed in the "Remote Name" window.
  • Step 13: To download from the server, select the file (s) or folder (s) from the "Remote Name" window and drag it to the "Local Name" window.
